The Shannon Scholarships

Beinn Mhàbu is pleased to offer the Joe & Ruth Shannon Scholarship. Multiple awards from $5,000 to $10,000 are available to students meeting the eligibility criteria below.

APPLICANTS MUST:
• Be entering full‐time study in the Gaelic Foundations: Living Cultures program at Beinn Mhàbu

TO APPLY, SUBMIT:
• A completed Beinn Mhàbu Scholarship form
• A copy of your resume
• A two‐page essay (1,000 words max) outlining the following:

  • Why you wish to attend the Beinn Mhàbu Gaelic Foundations Program and how this program will help you attain your goals

  • Demonstrated commitment to hard work and perseverance

  • Examples of volunteering and leadership in your high school, extra-curricular, community or other activities


Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need. Deadline to apply is May 15, 2024. Completed applications are to be returned to admissions@beinnmhabu.ca

The Fr. Angus Morris Scholarship

Beinn Mhàbu is pleased to offer the Fr. Angus Morris Scholarship for the 2024‐2025 academic year. One award with a value of $5,000 is available to a student that meets the eligibility criteria below.

Applicants must:

  • Have a minimum 80% average in senior year of high school

  • Be entering full‐time study in the program at Beinn Mhàbu

 

To apply, submit:

  • A completed Fr. Angus Morris Scholarship form (click the link above to download)

  • A copy of your resume

  • A two‐page essay (1,000 words max) outlining the following:

    • Your professional goals

    • How the scholarship will assist you in achieving your goals

    • Examples of leadership in your community and/or extra‐curricular activities

    • Examples of volunteering both in high school activities and/or in your community

 

Preference will be given to students who graduated from a Cape Breton high school, but others are encouraged to apply. This application is for students entering Beinn Mhàbu and seeking university credit only. Auditing students are not eligible for this award.
